Scarlett Johansson, Ryan Reynolds share superhero trainer Bobby Strom
"Iron Man 2" star Scarlett Johansson shares something very important with her husband, "Green Lantern" star Ryan Reynolds: a superheroic personal trainer, Bobby Strom.
It was LA-based Strom who got Scarlett into skin-tight black catsuit shape for her role as The Black Widow, Natalie, in the "Iron Man" sequel, due in theaters Friday, May 7.
But the trainer (a former New York City cop and bodybuilder) obviously came highly recommended by Ryan.
And Strom, who created Ryan's physique for "The Proposal" nude scene and his Deadpool muscles for "Wolverine," is still working him hard. "Every day he turns me into a fine cottage cheese curd-like pudding," Reynolds admitted to Ryan Seacrest, on the 2010 red carpet.
Strom, whose website also mentions other past and present clients including Britney Spears, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Biel, Elle McPherson, Leslie Mann, and Benecio del Toro, has been on the "Lantern" in New Orleans for two months training Reynolds and "Gossip Girl" star Blake Lively, who plays his superhero love interest, Star Sapphire.
But before he left, he gave me the inside scoop on some of the exercises he made Scarlett do when they trained "7 days a week" for her "Iron Man" action-packed role.
I made sure that I didn't try to do anything that Scarlett didn't do. Emphasis on the word "try." Apparently, there was nothing Scarlett didn't do. While the exercises look easy, they so aren't. And I quickly realized it might be better to have Bobby's gorgeous and frighteningly fit dancer/trainer wife, Alicia Strom, demonstrate the more challenging moves.
What have I learned? That it ain't easy training to do an action movie. Trust me, these actors earn every million they make! Just check out Scarlett's moves in the trailer.
And today at the "Iron Man 2" junket at the Four Season, Marvel Studios president and "Iron Man 2" producer Kevin Fiege revealed that yes, there are plans for a "Black Widow" film spinoff. So Scarlett will have to stay in catsuit shape for quite some time.
