Sandra Bullock adopts baby, files for divorce from Jesse James

sandra-bullock-people-cover-zap2it.jpgSandra Bullock has managed to keep at least one thing about her personal life to herself recently: her adoption of an infant born in New Orleans.

Bullock is on the cover of People this week with her son, 3 1/2-month old Louis Bardo Bullock -- whom she says she'll be raising as a single parent. Although she began the adoption process with husband Jesse James several years ago, the revelation of his affairs following her Oscar win has led her to file for divorce, the magazine says.

Bullock and James adopted Louis when he was born in January but decided to keep the news to themselves until after the Oscars, where she won best actress for "The Blind Side." Her victory was followed soon thereafter by news of a different kind: the sordid tale of James' affairs with Michelle "Bombshell" McGee and others.

Still, Bullock says she has taken solace in the arrival of her son. "He's just perfect, I can't even describe him any other way," she tells People. "It's like he's always been a part of our lives."

She and James separated in mid-March after news of his affairs became public. Bullock says she's finalizing the adoption as a single parent.

People's interview with Bullock is in its annual "most beautiful" issue, which hits newsstands Friday (April 30).

Wow! Good for her. She will be an awesome Mom.

it's like the cherry on the sundae that displays how awesome sandra is.

That baby is too cute!! Way to go, Sandy!! You've shown Angelina Jolie and Madonna that one doesn't have to leave the U.S. to find adorable minority babies to adopt. Now if only more white Americans would do the same and stop going to China and Russia to get babies. Plenty of unwanted kids in the U.S., born in the U.S., who need good homes.

This is great news for Sandra! I wish her and Louis the best of luck. I read elsewhere that he is names for Louis Armstrong because Sandra likes the song "What a Wonderful World" so much. I wonder where the name Bardo comes from. I really like it.

Call me cynical but this all smells like a pub stunt.
Last minute black baby from Louisiana the media will be raving about this for years.
Sandy could not have been as squeaky clean as the media portrays her.

Anyone who suspected that she shared in her husband's probable racist views are proved to be dead wrong. Her Oscar speech was already a golden testament to that.

I guess adopting a child the same race as you are is not considered cool in hollywood.

I wanted to like this new version of "V", but there are no likeable characters and no conflict. Each week, nothing happens. Didn't watch last night, but can safely guess that it was 60 minutes of non-interesting exposition and little else.

Way to go, Sandra! You don't need Jesse in your life to be happy!! I love the baby!
