Rielle Hunter on 'Oprah': I'm not a home-wrecker
Rielle Hunter, the mother of former senator and presidential candidate John Edwards' child, says she was helping Edwards "find his authentic self" during their affair.Suuure.
Hunter submitted to an interview with Oprah Winfrey on Thursday (April 29), and we don't know about you, but to us the whole thing had a skin-crawly sort of feel to it. Did we really want to know about the "mutual staring" when they first met, or the fact that they never used birth control, or anything really? No, we did not, but it's May sweeps and it's the job.
Some, uh, highlights from the interview:
- Hunter says she's not a home-wrecker: "It is not my experience that a third party wrecks a home. I believe the problems exist before a third party comes into the picture. ... I do not believe I wrecked his home."
- Shortly after they met and she told Edwards he was "hot," Hunter also said she could "help" him. "He was very sweet, generous and charming," she tells Winfrey. "We had a very, very long conversation about helping. He wanted help -- he wanted to be more authentic and live a life of truth. He wanted to change his life."
- Hunter talks about continuing the affair after Edwards started campaigning for president in 2008: "I followed my heart and I believe it was the right thing to do. Which is weird, I realize how weird that is. But I didn't make a commitment to [Edwards' wife] Elizabeth. I wasn't the one lying to her. I was supporting him in his decisions. I knew he had a unique way of getting to his life of truth. I felt like I was supporting him and loving him until he got to where he needed to be."
- She wouldn't comment on the state of her relationship with Edwards now, saying she wants "boundaries" in her private life (tip: Then don't do national interviews). "He does see [their daughter] regularly," she says. "I still love him very much, it's my experience that he loves me, and I trust him very much."
And then there's this: Hunter explains how Elizabeth Edwards found out about the affair.
OK, so who else needs a shower?

Yo Rielle call me baby I'm in town.... Love ya Obama
his money did improve her looks, but she's really really, calculating and things she is smarter than she is. the part where she brushes off other people's judgment, she is living in a fantasy. she just wrecked her life, her daughter's life and an entire family with her move to snatch a rich man.
she tells so many details (even to the point of TMI at times) but then she won't say their current status. i mean she tells about the whole seduction, lots of details, but then suddenly needs a boundary? seems kinda arbitrary to me, i'm guessing she won't talk about their current status because they're not together the way she wishes they were. her "honesty" is pretty selective.
Rielle is disgusting
she is as nasty and trashy as Palin, poor things, what a trash they are, they will never have the class of Hilary Clinton.
Hey Reille remember me call me baby Im in town....
