'Precious' Gabourey Sidibe on SNL: Funny or flop?
Gabourey Sidibe's "Saturday Night Live" hosting gig on April 25 was highly anticipated, in large (sorry) part because of Howard Stern's vocal insistence that the "Precious" star would never work again after being nominated for an Oscar this year because she is -- and we quote -- "the size of a planet."
The perky plus-sized actress proved she was game doing comedy skits, such as this one featuring the odious Hamilton (the guy with the trained hawk) trying to woo her back into his arms. And she did give it her all so maybe any failings are not hers but (as usual) the SNL writers.
At least this skit was better than the digital short featuring Andy Samberg and Gabby in a cherry-spitting duel, dressed in "Star Wars" robes. But that's just our opinion.

It was embarrassing. Sorry. The woman has very little discernible talent. She is in desperate need of acting lessons. As a personality, she is indeed sweet and charming, but as an actor she is truly just awful.
She had a lot of trouble reading her cue cards, fumbling over dialogue a number of times. But...she tried to make every character she played different, with mixed results. I can see her playing bit parts in movies in the future. PRECIOUS was amazing and a great director could likely pull another A+ performance out of her.
Clearly, Stern was wrong. She is the next Meryl Streep. BWAHAHAHAHAAHA!
I missed this segment last night but wow SHE CAN'T ACT!!! I didn't see Precious yet but she never had acting before she auditioned for Precious. idk but she could probably fade out fast; I mean there's literally nothing said about her on her wikipedia page. An instant star; just like Kate Gosselin.
It was terrible. I only laughed a couple times. She messed up way too much.
I could not stop looking at here unbelievably fat arms. She tried and seemed nice enough but she was not good. The only part of the show worth watching was weekend update
Did anyone else notice that you couldn't see the whites of her eyes. She looked like a big black version of Mr. Magoo.
Jesus Christ she was so bad. My favorite part of the show was at the end when she screamed, "My first SNL!". You could see the cast thinking, "Honey, this is your last SNL". Can't wait for next year when she's on Celebrity Fit Club/Celebrity Biggest Loser.
you guys are very hurtful. I think she was sexy and I am a 35 year old white guy. She made a couple of mistakes in her sketches, but she was hot. I tivo it and Im watching it again later. She was funny.
To each their own but you know as well as I do, most people do not find that sexy--which is why the enablers talk about her great personality and how nice she seems (since when does anyone say that about a celebrity SNL host).
The chick is obese
And it's not cute.
Period.
And save the "you're just racist" comments. I'm black. Doesn't mean she ain't fat as hell and un-cute.
