'Mean Girls' Nintendo game: Lindsay Lohan cropped out?

Did Nintendo decide that Lindsay Lohan's party girl ways warrant her exclusion from the "Mean Girls" Nintendo DS game? Perhaps.

The cover of the game, which is due out Oct 31, 2010, shows the Plastics -- Rachel McAdams' Regina, Amanda Seyfried's Karen and Lacey Chabert's Gretchen. But Lindsay Lohan's Cady is nowhere to be found, even though the description of the game says: "Rumors. Lies. Intrigue. It's High School. Based on the hit Paramount movie. Follow the misadventures of Cady from Jingle Bell Rock to the School Prom."

Since the game is about Cady, it's weird that she would be left off the cover. Lindsay has recently been making news as her life continues to sadly spiral out of control, so maybe the Nintendo marketing department felt it a bad image to include on their game.

On the other hand, it's not like Lindsay was photoshopped out of the picture. As you can see above, the poster doesn't show her standing with the rest of the Plastics. She is off to the side, away from the original "mean girls." Nintendo DS games aren't actually very big, only a few inches by a few inches, so maybe Nintendo just didn't want to shrink the movie poster picture down that small and instead just used the three main "mean girls." That would make sense, since Lindsay isn't a "plastic" to begin with and eventually ends up eschewing that clique at the end of the movie.

What do you guys think? Left off on purpose?

that is too funny...well, if you are bad for business, you get left behind. Lindsey is a trainwreck!!!!!!!

Cady didn't eschew (not a word I ever use in conversation) the Plastics at the end of the movie. That clique was dissolved as an unintended consequence of her actions. Please don't sound like you didn't even watch the movie.

My guess is that la Lohan wanted too much money in exchange of rights to use her image. We're talking about somebody who's suing for $2m because some character in a commercial was named Lindsay...

The studio and the game developers may have preferred to give Cady another look to prevent a large sum of cash to go to Columbia.

It's strange that the article mentions a couple times that Nintendo made the decision. The game shows in the bottom right corner it was made by publisher 505 games, Nintendo had nothing to do with the design of the cover, except for setting the size dimensions for game cases.

If it's a first person game then it might warrant her omission from the cover. At least, that's what I'd say if I was in charge of designing the thing.

$2mil?

i think you meant $100mil.

I guess this leaves US to be Cady, rather than one of the plastics. That way when we buy the game we are facing the plastics, and that might be the whole idea of the game, right? :)
