Gabourey Sidibe may be the funniest 'SNL' host all season
Maybe it's just us, but it sure looks like "Precious" Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe has dropped a few pounds in her new promos (with Andy Samberg) for her hosting gig on "Saturday Night Live" on April 24.
So much for Howard Stern's prediction that she is too fat ("She's as big as a planet," we believe are the words he will have to eat) to find work in Hollywood.
First she lands a regular role on Showtime's "The Big C," and now she's hosting 'SNL,' a very sought-after gig. And overweight or a few pounds thinner, she's already made us laugh more than any other host this season.
Betty White, the host on May 8, may have some stiff competition with Gabby.
There's no stopping this girl. She's sweet and street rolled into one delish dish. And the best thing about this promo is that we now know how to pronounce her last name. We were saying it wrong all awards season. Sheesh.
It's Si-di-BAY, not Si-DI-bee.

The real appeal of the night was the total rotten tomato of each sketch from start to finish. This was the most awkward and painful string of sketches I have ever seen on SNL.
Gabourey Sidibe stumbled over her words and was often slurred and indistinct. The Suze Ormon sketch left me scratching my head at its obscurity, and Gabourey's accent was...???Jamaican??? The bad omen was the 2-3minute pause that just had Gabourey's picture up because the sketch was not ready. The old cranky woman (Mrs. Johnson) yelling at the boys on the stoop made me think that the writers of the sketch were 3rd graders. -- Perhaps Gabourey could have read her Department of Motor Vehicles poem like Bobby Moynihan did, then maybe the dialogue would have had some comedic timing, and not stressed Sidibe out.
Keenan Thompson's portrayal of Steve Harvey hosting "Millionaire" was just as bad as the rest...his character was supposed to stumble over the written words, but between Gabourey and Thompson the words flowed like molasses.
Perhaps the most painful was the reprisal of Jenny Slate's "We got Doorbells" remade as "We Got Alarm Clocks". The clocks were not funny, and both Jenny and Gabourey would turn to "push" and alarm for no reason at all. They probably turned to push alarm clocks 50 times.
Gabourey continued to do this pout/mad face that would have been great if they had done a "What's Happening Now" and she played Re-run. I believe SNL did the best with Gabourey Sidibe that they could; the problem was she has no comedic timing.
If you are into rotten tomato performances, then this is the SNL show for you.
Love Gabby. Loved Precious. But last night was horrendous. Betty White has absolutely nothing to worry about. Gabby has a lot of work ahead to sharpen her craft. Still love her but hosting the show was a big mistake....
