Fergie doesn't look 'fugly' on Elle cover

Fergie, the Black Eyed Peas female vocalist, isn't immune to the negative attention that comes with life in the spotlight.

"It has hurt me in the past when people say things like how 'fugly' I am or how horrible I look," the singer admits in the May issue of Elle.

"I've had to learn not to give it such a high priority in life. Look, when you're trying to juggle all of this in your life, sometimes you're not going to look perfect. I don't have time to get a facial every couple of days."

Apparently the energetic performer still feels the pressure to stay thin and works to keep her appetite in check.

"I'm not going to lie: There are times I play mind tricks on myself, like that the french fries are poison," she reveals. "With desserts, I'll let myself have just one bite, but I'll look like a freak when I'm eating it, like when I did Duncan Hines commercials as a kid, just savoring every morsel."

Well, it looks like her strategy works since those lovely lady lumps are featured in an Elle photo shoot in which she goes old Hollywood glam with her Veronica Lake 'do and vintage garb.

In this photo, she's wearing a Dior python jacket and jersey skirt, a vintage 1950s bra Christian Louboutin patent leather peep-toe pumps.
