Bret Michaels expected to make full recovery at neurological center in Phoenix
Bret Michaels' treatment location has been undisclosed up until this point, but TMZ is now reporting that he's at one of the most prestigious neurological centers in the world.According to Michaels' rep, the rocker is currently a patient at the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix (also the home the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center).
Michaels is being treated by neurosurgeon Dr. Joseph Zabramaski, who released a statement confirming that his condition is "serious." However, he adds, "Bret's sheer will to live and fully recover is undeniable."
Dr. Zabramaski also said the following about Michaels' treatment:
"Mr. Michaels will continue to undergo testing considering we have hit a few roadblocks, including hyponatremia, severe cranial and back pain suffered from blood drainage, an emergency appendectomy performed a week earlier and a lifelong history of Type 1 diabetes."
And the reason "The Celebrity Apprentice" contestant gave the doc for refusing to give in to the brain hemorrhage? Dr. Zabramski claims Michaels told him he "did not want his family to wake up and see him lying unconscious in the middle of the floor." He also added that immediate medical attention and Michaels' "fight to stay conscious during the hemorrhage" allowed doctors to stabilize his condition.
His doctor believes he is expected to make a full recovery, and some doctors even say it's possible he could be healthy enough to appear on "The Celebrity Apprentice" live finale on May 23. Michaels is currently one of seven remaining contestants, including celebrity chef Curtis Stone (who spoke to "Ellen" about Michaels Friday's show), pop singer Cyndi Lauper, reality TV queen Sharon Osbourne and actress Holly Robinson Peete.
A press conference with further updates on Michaels' condition is scheduled for Tuesday (May 4) at noon ET.

Bret is one of the lucky ones who had a brain aneurysm and is doing well. My brother had a brain aneurysm at 46 years old and though he got through it, it was severe and a long road back. Its 20 years later now and he has not been able to work since the aneurysm. He can't retain much information though he can converse with people in the present, but his career was over and it took 5 years for him to have much improvement in memory and he was never the same as he was before the aneurysm. It is very dangerous and many people don't survive the first symptoms, nor the surgery. So good for Bret that he is doing well. I am glad. But he should never forget how lucky he was.
