'Bootyism' banner rains on Tiger Woods' Masters 2010 parade

Tiger-Woods-Bootyism.jpgTiger Woods fared well on the Masters scoreboard Thursday (April 8), and his new Nike commercial is getting rave reviews ... so the golfing superstar was probably feeling pretty good today until he heard about that pesky "bootyism" banner.

The crowds on opening day at the Masters were massive, and mastermind behind the plane that flew by carrying the banner reading, "TIGER: DID YOU MEAN BOOTYISM?" knew that would be the case.

According to the Urban Dictionary, bootyism is "a religion originating in the east(coast) encouraging the endowment of large quantities of (female) booty, getting booty, banging booty, etc."

Of course, bootyism is an obvious jab at at Woods' promise to return to the core values of his Buddhist faith, which he said he'd "drifted away" from during his mistress-filled years.

[UPDATE: Crowds at the Masters tournament can look forward to another airborne banner Friday (April 9), according to TMZ.

The banner will read: "You knew, Stevie ... You knew." This message is in reference to Woods' caddy Steve Williams, who has claimed he had no knowledge of his boss' wandering ways.

This will be the third banner to grace the skies above Augusta. First came the "Bootyism" banner pictured above, followed by, "SEX ADDICT? YEAH, RIGHT. SURE. ME TOO!"

So far, the "Green Baron" (yeah, we're coining that term here!) is yet to be identified.]

I swear some people don't have ANY CLASS!!!!! I hope they catch the culprit and then sue the company in a New York Minute... I mean who was that damn upset that they had to pay God knows what amount of money for that banner to be flown? SMDH...

Twas I, the Duke Of Earl

I just wish Tiger Woods would go away. I never cared for him prior to the sexual trysts, and I don't much care about his sexual life one way or the other.

I just always felt like he was a whiny guy for someone who gets all the breaks. He doesn't whine like he used to, but his on course demeanor has usually been less than one should expect from a pro player.

Let him play golf. It is his job. But treat him just like every one else. Nothing more and nothing less. Nothing special but also not anything sinister. Just human.

Rave reviews of the Nike commercial? Guess we're reading different things because I've seen nothing but scathing critiques.

I don't understand why they can't do anything about it.

hsdppres - if you wish he would go away and you never cared for him, quit READING about him.

I loved the Nike commercial.

I really think the article is exaggerating the impact of these banners. I didn't hear about them until this article. They didn't seem to have any impact at the Masters at all. Tiger played well. The crowds were pleasant. It seems like whoever did this wasted their money if their goal was to affect Tiger.

Mark - "I hope they catch the culprit and then sue the company in a New York Minute"

Tell me, Mark what would Be the specifics of the law suit that you want to see?
What would be the "cause of action"?

Sad to think that someone spent time, money and energy to do something so rotten. What goes around.......

Hey Tiger Im in town call me you know where Im staying....Love Ginger

Leeb - If someone can turn around and have a lawsuit Janet Jackson for Nipplegate and sue Erykah Badu for her new Window Seat video, then I am sure there is a "cause of action" somewhere in that incident. It was tasteless. Point blank.
