'Twilight: Breaking Dawn' offers: Bill Condon, Gus van Sant, Sofia Coppola
Summit Entertainment is reportedly talking to three Oscar-winning directors about doing the final Twilight Saga" film (s) "Breaking Dawn." The triple threat is Gus Van Sant ("Milk," "Good Will Hunting"), Sofia Coppola ("Lost in Translation"), and Bill Condon ("Dreamgirls").
In some way, it would be fun to have Bella's story told by Coppola, who handles stories about complicated young women and love affairs. We loved ''The Virgin Suicides" but then we remembered how pretty but bland "Marie Antoinette" was.
As for Condon, we loved his "Gods and Monsters."
Then again, it might be really interesting to see how van Sant handles the homoerotic undercurrents of the vampires vs. the werewolves. And we're sure there are some.
Reps for Van Sant have confirmed that he's been approached, but Coppola and Condon's camps have not commented.
Which director would you like to see direct "Breaking Dawn?"
