Patient sues 'The Doctors' producers over penis surgery

Tyler Bowling, 21, reportedly claims the producers of the CBS show "The Doctors" tricked him into appearing before a live studio audience to discuss his laser surgery for bumps on his penis. They even put it on YouTube!

He's suing because he says he's suffered "relentless embarrassment and harassment" as a result of their deception. One can only imagine.

Bowling had what are called "pearly penile papules" -- harmless, noncontagious, skin-colored bumps --- and made an appointment at Groff's La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery Centre in early 2009 to undergo the $4,500 laser removal procedure.

Groff's secretary offered the treatment for free if Bowling would agree to "discuss his condition" on CBS' "The Doctors."

Surely, he bothered to watch an episode before agreeing? Apparently not.

"The Doctors" producers contacted him and Bowling flew to Los Angeles. Groff examined Bowling then numbed his penis and used the Lumenis Co2 laser to remove the papules.

Bowling was then asked to discuss his experience on the show. But he claims he was told only doctors and medical students watch "The Doctors." No word as to who he thought the 200-person studio audience were.

On the show, you learn that Groff's condition affects 30% of the male population, that it's not an STD but that it resembles genital warts on females. Great. Good luck convincing your girlfriend that it's not.

Suffice to say that Bowling ended up sitting in the audience, discussing his penis (and looking at photos) with a live audience. Did we mention it also ended up on YouTube?

Is a judge and/or jury is gonna buy Bowling's version? He looks pretty comfortable sitting in the audience. And he got applause! Who's right and who's wrong? Maybe Bowling should have worked out a residuals deal.
