Kathy Griffin to D.C.: 'Don't ask, don't tell' stinks!

kathy-griffin-hrc-2.jpgKathy Griffin seems to be on an equal rights roll. And she's not about to slow down anytime soon.

The sassy redhead will head up a human rights rally in Washington, D.C. and she's asking for your support.

"It's time to take on 'don't ask, don't tell'!!! Please join me this Thursday, March 18 at 12 noon at Freedom Plaza in DC," says Griffin in a statement on her official website. "Y'know how every season we do one kind of serious episode of 'My Life on the D List?' Well, I really need your help with this one. With the help of the HRC, I'm organizing a rally to help repeal the antiquated policy of 'don't ask, don't tell' All you have to do is show up!"

Griffin adds that she'll be meeting with legislators throughout the week, but that "the average American citizen and their constituents are who they REALLY listen to."

This effort to stand up for gay rights comes on the heels of Griffin joining other celebs like Portia de Rossi at the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Annual Awards Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday, March 13. Last month the "My Life on the D List" star also starred as the leader of a lesbian rights group on "Law & Order: SVU."
