Kate Winslet, Sam Mendes split

Kate Winslet and her husband, director Sam Mendes announced their split after almost seven years of marriage on Monday (Mar. 15).

"Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year," says a statement released by their lawyers. They married in a low-key private ceremony in the Caribbean in 2003.

This was was Winslet's second marriage. She was previously married to Jim Threapleton for three years.

The statement added: "The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement.

"Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children. They ask that the media respect the privacy of the family."

Perhaps working together and being married is just too hard on entertainment industry marriages. What do you think?
