Fess Parker, 'Davy Crockett' star, dies at 85
Fess Parker, the Baby Boomer who captured the imagination playing American heroes Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone, has died. He was 85.The actor, wine maker and resort owner died Thursday, March 18 of natural causes at his Santa Ynez, Calif., home near the Fess Parker Winery, according to reports.

He also starred in the "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" TV series before hitting it big again with the "Daniel Boone" series in the '60s.
His film credits include "Them!," "The Kid From Left Field," "The Bounty Hunter," "Alias Jesse James" and the classic "Old Yeller."
Beyond his Hollywood career, Parker is known for his Fess Parker Winery & Vineyard in Los Olivos, Calif. Besides wine and other merchandise, the property's General Store sells coonskin caps and "Davy Crockett" and "Daniel Boone" videos.

well apparently somebody is over 18 working there after all
RIP Mr Parker. It feels like I've lost a bit of my childhood with your passing. What a lovely man.
Fess Parker was great but he was not a Boomer. He was at least 20 years too old.
I was one of the kids in America running around with a coon skin cap on in the early 1960's. We of my generation will miss Fess Parker and know that now Heaven is a better place because he is there.
first peter graves now fess parker, they come in three's so another old time TV star is due to pass, watch out Betty White.
"The Ballad of Davy Crockett" listed here sounds awkward. Here's the version used on the TV series:
