Erykah Badu's 'Window Seat' video: The naked, then the dead

Singer Erykah Badu's new album, "New Amerykah, Part Two: Return of the Ankh," arrives Tuesday (March 30), and she has succeeded in making sure just about everyone knows it.

How? Oh, just by releasing a video for the single "Window Seat" in which she walks around Dallas, takes her clothes off -- all of them -- and then pantomimes being shot not far from the site where John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

That's "Window Seat" in a nutshell. The video offers up a disconnect with the song itself, a sweetly sad song about a breakup. It's shot in what looks like one long take, and it ends with a naked Badu being shot and falling to the ground. A voiceover at the end says, "They who play it safe are quick to assassinate what they do not understand."

It closes with a plea to "evolve" away from that mindset. Which is nice and all, but based on what we've seen online in the past few hours, far more people are interested in seeing Badu without her clothes on than in what the song sounds like or what she has to say.

But hey -- at least they all know Badu's album is in stores now.

Very talented artist. But, dear Erykah, that place at that Plaza is not for you to promote any causes OTHER than ones that respect the memory of our late President. Yes, I am probably a little older than many writing here - and they probably have no clue as to how our society changed on 11/22/63.
