Diet company offers Gabourey Sidibe help for 'terrible affliction'

gabby-sidibe-weight-loss.jpgAcaiSupply.com is reaching out to Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe and offering her a one-year supply of their weight loss product if she will endorse it.

Their message to her is that obesity is a "major epidemic" in the U.S. and they want to help her fight "this terrible affliction."

The company's letter, which TMZ has a copy of, explained, "The only way you can reach your goal of someday winning that Oscar is by being active, fit, and most of all, healthy!"

No comment from Sidibe's rep.

The Dish Rag thinks that if Gabby does decide she wants to lose weight  -- for herself and her health, not because of Hollywood pressure -- she should hold out for Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers or NutriSystem.

What do you think? Should she lose weight?

Personally, I think yes, but it is up to each individual to make decisions for themselves. Curvy can be beautiful, and we each have to figure out how to be happy with what we have, but I believe Gabby is hovering before a health calamity. She would be an excellent role model and spokeswoman for embracing who you are while taking steps towards getting healthy - she could inspire a whole generation! If she really wanted to, I bet she could even approach the gym or weight loss system she wanted and ask them to sponsor her, what many of us would give to have her rising star power. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for positive things to come.

BTW "being active, fit, and most of all, healthy" doesn't have to mean skinny! Dieting makes you "yo-yo." Building muscle through Strength Training is far more beneficial. That way you can maximize health and eat more of what you want. If you commit to regular workouts, you just naturally eat better because you are working toward being strong, not skinny.

At least with the Nutrisystem she does not have to think about what to cook - it even gets delivered direct to your door - so its great for the lazy person too!

I don't think this is right. It's got to be embarrassing to her, and besides, you can't make someone lose weight by bullying them, its just wrong. Nutrisystem is crap in a can. never eat it. It has killed people, and they've been sued several times. If you can't lose weight without having everything done for you, then why put the effort into it? most of the diet programs out there, pills and whatnot are worse for you than eating junk food. seriously. Diet pills? basically legal speed. most of the prepared foods for weightloss have so many additives and preservatives that its counter-productive to a healthy lifestyle so save your money and do it the old fashioned way....fruits, veggies and exercise!
