David Beckham: Ruptured Achilles tendon ends World Cup hopes
David Beckham won't be bending it like himself anytime soon. The world-famous soccer star hobbled off the field in tears Sunday (Mar. 14) after rupturing his Achilles tendon. The injury will sideline Beckham for five to eight months, which dashes the midfielder's hopes for playing in his fourth World Cup this summer in South Africa.
"As far as the World Cup is concerned, he's definitely out," Jean Pierre Meersseman, Milan's team doctor, told the Times of London.
Beckham, who suffered the injury while playing for AC Milan on loan from the L.A. Galaxy, was devastated.
"He came into the dressing room and I could see he was in tears," according to defender Ignazio Abate. "Seeing a man like him in that state really moved me. It's a sad, sad day."
Beckham had worked for the past three years to have an opportunity to be on England's World Cup squad. Had he been picked, he would have been the first English player to appear in four World Cups.
The 34-year-old soccer player had another good reason to be in tears. This could very well be a career-ending injury.
"David's injury makes us sick," said Leonardo, the Milan coach. "When I think of his personal history, everything I know about him, how hard he works, I feel so bad for him."
Time will tell if Beckham will return to the Galaxy -- or soccer in general. As of now, Beckham is scheduled to fly to Turku, Finland on Monday for surgery.

And this is TV/Film news... how, exactly?
I think they are wonderful and handsome.
I've never seen an article so out of place... Can you please also update us on the state of the US economy?
The ONLY reason this news is here is: VICTORIA (POSH SPICE) ADAMS, his wife. Otherwise, it would be relegated to the SPORTS PAGES.
Get used to it...
Becks and Posh are global celebs that transcend soccer and music, so it's not surprising that it's under the celebrity section of a TV/film website.
Interesting comments! Can I ask those who question David Beckham's placement on this celebrity page if you had the same qualms with the multiple articles we posted on Tiger Woods? Or even Ben Roethlisberger? I'm curious ... are your issues with Zap2it covering this story perhaps because you guys just don't see the relevance of soccer in this country? Because as someone who covers the world of celebrity, I can tell you that pretty boy David Beckham is just about as "Hollywood" as an athlete can get.
He’s able to go to the World Cub…But only as a mascot of the team!! That’s what Beckham’s Doctor sarcastically said anyway. He also said “The left Achilles tendon was totally torn… ruptured†and it would take 3 – 4 months before he could even run again. The British are devastated…their best player is out before he even had a chance…I guess he will never be in a world cup…as usual a lot of Brits are going out and getting drunk this evening…I learned some more here

Hope David Beckham can recovered easily.
