Corey Haim demanded drug-free movie set in final days

corey-haim-getty.jpgDespite Corey Haim's long-running battle with drug addiction, he was at least committed to staying clean right before his untimely death.

Haim was working on a film called "The Dead Sea" in the days proceeding his death. One of the movie's producers, Rick Tucker, told TMZ that the actor had demanded a drug and alcohol-free environment on the set.

In fact, Haim had gone as far as to include his drug-free demands in his contract. He negotiated to include a provision that required the set to be "clean" throughout the duration of the production.

All associated with the movie were supportive of Haim's efforts to avoid temptation, according to Tucker.

The cause of the 38-year-old actor's death remains a mystery. Police say Haim was taking over-the-counter and prescription medications when he collapsed in the Burbank apartment complex he was sharing with his mother.

Corey was a friend and will be missed...

It's actually a sad commentary that an actor has to demand a drug-free set. Reading between the lines it sort of gives an unfortunate impression of the workplace environment, huh.

This is sad... I lost a son to drugs a few years ago... he, like Corey, was trying to get rid of addiction in his life... Just the fact that Corey had to put it into his contract that the set be drug and alcohol free, means that the sets are usually NOT drug and alcohol free and this is not only SAD, but really bad too... Too many beautiful people are dying from drugs... and celebrities are role models and should be showing young people that they can handle life without chemicals... Please would some celebrities start taking a stand and help this world with this horrible problem... I'm trying, but I'm just a sad nobody who misses my son, I don't get listened to very much...

Katie- no mom who loses a child to drugs or anything else is a nobody- keep posting to the blogs and people will pay attention- it only takes one person at a time to start a movement- don't ever stop trying to be heard. From a mom who should have lost a son to drugs but fortunately did not. RIP Corey. It sounds like you were really trying.

So he demanded a drug free set, yet he died of a drug overdose. Isn't that like someone demanding a alcohol-free set and then dying of alcohol poisoning?

He had all the FLU LIKE symptoms of consuming Cocaine laced with Levamisole. http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/709451

Something so sad about this is that the people he worked with on the film American Sunset are totally using his death for their own selfish reasons. They promote the movie as his last, it wasn't. The "actress" (I use the term loosely) who plays his wife promotes herself as "corey haim's last leading lady", she isn't and they are all lying and pretending that they were so close to him. They weren't. It was totally superficial. He was destitute and alone when he died. Where were they? He was obviously terribly addicted to drugs and to use his death for their own selfish reasons makes me sick.
