'Breaking Bad' Aaron Paul learned about drug use on YouTube
After Aaron Paul landed the role, of drug-dealing Jesse Pinkman on AMC's "Break Bad," he researched junkie behavior via what may seem like an unlikely resource: YouTube."It's amazing the kinds of things you can find on YouTube, specifically with the second season, when Jesse was diving into heroin use," Paul tells Zap2it, who earned an Emmy nomination for his work in season two.
"I found clips of people actually sticking a needle in their arms and using. You can see how their speech pattern slows down and they just kind of nod off.
"These were from documentaries and shows like 'Intervention.' That's such a great show, sad and tragic, but you see how these families are trying to stick together and save their loved ones. Drugs don't just affect the user, they affect everyone around them."
Paul hasn't shied away from playing some intensely harrowing scenes, but fans better brace themselves when the AMC drama returns on Sunday, Mar. 21.
"In season three, we go to a very dark place. I know we've done it before, but this is so much more so. You really see the inner being of this whole drug world and it's really scary. This is a season of change for Jesse. It's almost as if he is a completely different person. That's why this season probably was the scariest to play."
