America Ferrera on 'Ugly Betty: The Movie'?!?!?
An "Ugly Betty" movie? Are we dreaming? Could it be?
A movie version of HBO's sitcom sure worked for "Sex and the City." And America Ferrera tells The Dish Rag that she hopes there would be an audience for "Ugly Betty: The Movie."
At the junket of her new animated Dreamworks fantasy, "How To Train your Dragon," America said how grateful she was for the opportunity to do the show for the past four years, how you know a TV show will eventually end and for having the time to "wrap things up and do justice to these characters and to Betty's story."
She adds, "I'm happy with the way it turned out. And hopefully the fans will want more and they will come back and see 'Ugly Betty: The Movie' and we can see what life after the show brought for this character and all these characters that the audience is in love with."
She's happy with Betty's transformation in this final season and says that we will see Betty transforming inside and out.
"For me, this character is a transformative character and she's a girl who owns her skin and her body and her womanhood, her confidence and her career."
She loses her braces on the upcoming Wednesday (Mar. 24) show. Even her wardrobe will change a bit in the final episodes. Don't be freaked out if you see Betty wearing some neutral colors (gasp!).
"Betty has worked at a fashion magazine for four years so she would pick up some things," America explains. "But I wanted to be sure that she doesn't lose what makes her Betty ... She's not a girl in an all black pantsuit.
Whew. Thank God.
