What will Johnny Weir do/wear at the Olympics next?
Johnny Weir certainly got viewers buzzing, even if he only finished in sixth place after the men's short program in figure skating at the Olympics Tuesday (Feb. 16).Oh sure, he's a character, as we can see from the clips from the series "Be Good, Johnny Weir," and there was that whole situation with him rooming with Tanith Belbin. But a big part of the buzz was probably (definitely) his outfit, a hybrid black and pink number that has a corseted back and front, peekaboo sleeve, sheer gloves, ruffles with pink piping and of course, the tassel.
In Johhny's own words, he "rocked" that tassel, and it certainly did add extra oomph to his spins and jumps.
Tassel aside, the 25-year-old Olympian delivered a fairly clean program, executing the more difficult parts well, but it was after those elements were done that the fun began. Johnny was actually having fun out there on the ice, and it showed. Check out NBC's video of the performance.
And here are a couple more pics of the tassel with Johnny attached.

Sixth place isn't a wonderful place to be since it's assumed Johnny is out of medal contention unless any of the Top 3 make huge mistakes Thursday (Feb. 18) during the men's free skate. Regardless, we expect Johnny to bring the same sense of fun. We also hope he updates his outfit from the free skate he performed at Nationals, which you can check out below:
Are you a Johnny Weir fan or are you puzzled by the appeal? What would you like to see him wear next? We're thinking fake marabou feathers.

I love Johnny and have for years. He has a style and artistry on the ice that very few are capable of, and if you're open-minded enough to look past the flamboyance, you can see how beautiful his skating really is. Everyone should grow up and stop being afraid of beautiful guys who aren't afraid of themselves!
Penemuel...some Johnny haters are surely homophobes, but not all of them are. I respect the confidence he has in himself as an individual but, at times, wonder if this "individualism" is all smoke and mirrors to cover up the fact that he is clearly a step below the world's best. He rarely skates a clean program and often has major problems with the jumps. When he errs, he loses the artistry as well. His long program at nationals fell apart after his first missed jump. There was little artistry in it because he was so frazzled and looked more like a deer caught in the headlights. Johnny's abilities are often not on par with his confidence which makes me wonder...
He had a fairly good short program but until he can string together a clean long program with it, I'm not impressed.
Johnny Queer,...she apparently is pretty good in her pink laced outfit. She might win the gold this year. I wonder if she'll celebrate by going on another shopping spree. They showed her doing that on her Real Sports (HBO) interview recently. I love it when she referenced a real sport (football), but the one thing she focuses on is the players ocassionally slapping each others rears. That pretty much says it all I think. Give me a G! Give me an A! Give me a Y! Whats that spell? Silly queer.
That a boy, Dan! I can smell your American-ness from here! Dan, you're an embarassment to humanity.
Silly American.
Haters, lovers, homophobes or not...the reality is that he isn't a "great" skater.
@haha
You're probably a queer to. Go watch Bravo or knit a quilt or something.

Not sure what being American has to do with anything but I damn proud of it. Johny Queer is an American to although he has this obsession with Russia. What are you a ruskie or something? If you are please take him. You all can have each other.
I love the guy. He's not ashamed of who is and to have fun with it. It takes a lot of effort to stand out as the gay one in an arena of sequins and spandex. Mission accomplished, Johnny. Can you please to a routine to the Go Go's "Johnny are you Queer"? You would definitely rock that!
Another queer on ice?
What a surprise.

Johnny are you Queer was performed by Josie Cotton, and not the Go Go's. Get your facts straight before you make requests.
