Sarah Palin 'has no sense of humor,' says 'Family Guy' Down syndrome actress

sarahpalin_newsweek.jpg
Andrea Fay Friedman, the actress who played the Down syndrome girl in the "Family Guy" episode that Sarah Palin slammed, has a few choice words for the former governor.

She says Sarah "does not have a sense of humor."

And she should know. Just like the character she voiced, she also has Down syndrome.

She emailed the New York Times:

"I guess former Governor Palin does not have a sense of humor. I thought the line 'I am the daughter of the former governor of Alaska' was very funny. I think the word is 'sarcasm.'"

"In my family we think laughing is good. My parents raised me to have a sense of humor and to live a normal life."

When asked if she, agreed with what Palin and her daughter Bristol said about the joke being an insult to people with Down syndrome, she replied: "It's not really an insult. I was doing my role, I'm an actor. I'm entitled to say something. It was really funny. I was laughing at it."

Andrea Fay Friedman is wrong... just because she feels its ok to joke at home with her own family does not mean it is ok for the whole world to gang up on Gov Palin's Trig ..

Why should Trig have to grow up with everyone bashing him and with archives of his childhood mocking him..

If Andrea Fay Friedman feels it is ok to joke with her family or friends to relieve the tensions of her life that is fine for her...

BUT MAYBE she should imagine if a whole world of Haters that she does not know attacked her over and over...

TRIG WAS ATTACKED BEFORE HE WAS EVEN BORN BY SOME REAL SICK PEOPLE

Andrea they are using you... standup for what is right .. or at least respect someone else that is still too young to speak for himself..

IT IS JUST NOT RIGHT

Making fun of people with a mental disability is disgusting, but I am not sure if that was what that episode of family guy was going for. That episode, I am sure, opened a lot of eyes; people with down syndrome can lead healthy and productive lives, they can love, be loved, and have jerk attitudes just like anyone else.

I do understand as a mother Palin is just protecting her child, but that character and the woman who voices her are telling the world and Palin that down syndrome is not something that alienates you from experiencing the full gamut of life.

My Revised Thoughts on this...

I think the world deserves a number of Apologies here.

First from Seth for targeting a single person and family. Family Guy is a show about the worst of society everyone knows that... but where was Trig acting like anyone else he targets in his show.. like Michael Jackson or OJ or whoever ... Trig is an Innocent..

We need one from Andrea Fay Friedman because she allowed herself to be used by Seth to hurt an innocent family.. It does not matter that she also suffers ... the fact is she should ask her parents how they would have felt if they were attacked and about all the looks her mom from strangers.. It is not pretty its repulsive.. Her Parents must not have shared that with her to spare her and she grew up with bad ideas.

And also from Sarah Palin for picking and choosing who to hold accountable.. She allowed Limball to get away with his comments. That is wrong even though they were not targeting Trig or an individual...

And Finally from FOX for allowing the airing of this show. They probably felt if they did not air it then the publicity would be worse.. but the fact is FOX should have ordered 20 of their security guards to take Seth out back and ... well ...

The fact is we have all known either a person in school growing up or a neighbor or relative with a problem that is not of their making... Many of these people are great individuals but others like Andrea are not...

Just because you have a disability does not make you an angel .. you are still the same person that you would have been if you did not have it..

A LOT OF APOLOGIES NEED TO BE SAID HERE...

AND I AM SICK OF ALL OF YOU...

Go try to make the world better... stick to making fun of people who deserve it..

Again you all need to change your mindset because you are helping no one.

Give me a break HockeyGuy- a few sentences from Andrea and you know for a fact that she is "not a great individual"? You're absolutely free to have your opinion but how on earth can you say for a FACT that Andrea is not a good person? You're not being a better person yourself here if you think you know so much about her after one measly article. Seems like the opposite of what you are preaching.

Family Guy is a crude show that doesn't give anyone a free pass. I saw the episode and found nothing wrong with it. I thought they portrayed people with down syndrome as being normal and able to have a good life- what's not true about that? The comment wasn't even directed at Trig- it was directed at Sarah Palin (which I thought was pretty obvious but apparently not) and Sarah is an adult. An adult who paraded and used her down syndrome child to gain attention and sympathy from the voters. And now she wants to act all high and mighty about it? Sorry it doesn't work that way. Sarah is the one making this into a ridiculous issue when it doesn't have to be. No one would be talking about this if she didn't bring it into the public eye. The "joke" (if you even want to call it that) was not directed at an innocent child. It was directed at a woman who tries to hide the person she really is.

And that's MY opinion, which I am entitled to have. Does that make me a bad person too?
