Justin Mentell's crash reported by 911 call: 'Looks like one person dead'

"Boston Legal" actor Justin Mentell's death was initially reported by a motorist who came upon the wreckage of a Jeep crashed down an embankment in Iowa County, Wisconsin on Monday. 

The caller described what he saw to the 911 operator (listen here).

"I just came upon it; it looks like it's been here a while," the motorist told the 911 operator. "Looks like one person dead."

An Iowa County sheriff told Radar Online.com that the actor may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

"We don't believe that alcohol was a factor in the incident; there was no evidence of that here," the officer explained.

He added that it's possible that Mentell fell asleep at the wheel. "His mother told us that he liked to take long drives on his own and the area he crashed was pretty secluded." 

There was some snow in the area but the road conditions were clear and dry and not a factor in the crash. Mentell was not wearing his seatbelt. He was 27.
