The Dish Rag ran into "E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial" star Henry Thomas at the premiere of his new Nicholas Sparks romantic film, "Dear John," on Monday (Feb. 1), the night before the Oscar noms were announced. 

Well, we just had to ask him what his favorite film of the year was.

Turns out we both could not be happier about James Cameron's fantasy film "Avatar" being nominated for Best Picture, among other things.

It makes perfect sense that the child star of Steven Speilberg's ground-breaking film about a clumsy alien trapped on earth, trying to get back home but making an emotional connection with humans before he left, would enjoy visiting the magical planet of Pandora and hanging with the Na'vi.
