Hollywood writers Weiner, Wells and Cooper rate Tiger Woods' apology
What do Hollywood's hottest writers think about Tiger Woods' "I'm so sorry" speech?
We asked "Mad Men" creator/producer/director Matthew Weiner at the Writers Guild West Awards on Saturday (Feb 20) at the Hyatt Regency, for his take on El Tigre's sorry speech.
"I don't know why Tiger Woods is apologizing to us," Weiner tells The Dish Rag. "He's a professional athlete and we live on the fantasy that he learned to play golf so he could get girls. I don't look for him to be a moral example. Let's face it, he made the ultimate mistake --- he cheated on his mistress."
Then we asked John Wells, WGAW President, writer/director/producer ("ER," "West Wing), who summed it up succinctly "I don't care about golf and I don't care about what he does with his own penis, so God bless."
"Crazy Heart" writer/director Scott Cooper added, "I thought it was very contrite and it didn't seem like it was prepared by a publicist. It seemed like Tiger wrote it himself and that's refreshing."
We then turned to "Seinfeld" star Jason Alexander.
I thought the writing was fine," Alexander remarked. "You know how you lay out the 'spine' of a scene? The spine was a little off. I think all the elements were in there. I think what everyone was waiting for was the big breakdown. He didn't have the big breakdown. I'm very glad he didn't have the big breakdown. What he did was very dignified. I admire the guy, I really do. That's a tough speech to write."

I spelled Hore wrong sorry! TIGER WOODS IS A MALE *****!!!!!! there I said it!!!! I don't like to be so blunt about people but whenever you are in the public view and you have worked so hard to build your reputation to a higher standard and all of sudden Boom! your true colors are exposed! The whole public idea of you gets totally crushed. Now to gain back the public respect will take you longer to gain back ..if at all!
