Celebs looking for Boner: 'Growing Pains' Andrew Koenig missing, say pals [Updated]
Sarah Silverman, Alyssa Milano, Dave Holmes and other celebrities have been tweeting and blogging for information leading to the whereabouts of actor and comedian Andrew Koenig, best known for playing Boner on "Growing Pains."VH1's "Best Week Ever" star, Doug Benson broke from his usual comedic updates to tweet, "On a serious note, my buddy Andrew Koenig was last seen in Vancouver on Feb 14. If anybody knows where he is send me a message."
The celebrity tweets point to a blog post written by radio host Jesse Thorn with details about Koenig's disappearance.
The post reads:
"Andrew Koenig has been missing for a week, last seen 2/14 in Vancouver. Didn't make his flight back to the US on 2/16. The Vancouver Police are involved, and lots of people are looking. Could you reblog this and help get the word out? And say some prayers or think some positive thoughts?
Andrew is a super, super good guy, and we're thinking of him and his family. If you're in the Northwest, please keep your eyes out, and no matter where you are, please share this news.
If you've seen Andrew since February 14th, contact Detective Raymond Payette of the Vancouver PD at 604-717-2534."
The Dish Rag left a voicemail for confirmation of Koenig's missing status with Detective Payette and we spoke with the Vancouver Police Department Public Affairs office. They could not confirm nor deny Koenig's missing person status due to privacy reasons.
We can't be sure if this is an elaborate hoax by the comedians or if these details are real. If it means we can help disburse the information in the case Koenig's disappearance is real, we're willing to risk it.
[Update 10:00 PM: Danielle Koenig, Andrew's sister, has confirmed that he is indeed missing. "I just read your article," she states. "I want you to know that it is, indeed, real. My brother is missing and any information we can get on his whereabouts would be helpful. Thank you so much for writing about this. It's very much appreciated."]

Ummm... Yes they would. I'm not saying they are, sure this is probably real, but if it were a hoax, it certainly wouldn't be anywhere near the most tasteless stunt performed by comics, not even close.

It's unfortunate timing coming right after the hoax of Gordon Lightfoot's death. The once bitten rule comes into play.
re: Chris. However, no offence meant to anyone, but very few people know who Andrew Koenig is compared to Lightfoot. I don't see the point in there being a hoax. What I'm amazed is that the Vancouver police won't confirm he's missing because of privacy concerns. That really seems counterproductive.
i hope he didn't get all lonely on valentine's day and end up like so many male actors. surely there must be some credit card transactions, or cell phone usage info that can be traced..it's probably too late to do anything, but i hope he's alright.
Perhaps he is just enjoying all the Olympic buzz in Vancouver right now and having a good time. I hope someone hears from him soon.
Ugh, this is NOT a hoax. Andrew's friends are very worried, and the police are involved. I wish there weren't so many trolls joking and speculating on such a serious matter. Many of the blog posts include the phone number of the police detective working this case. I really hope they find him alive and in one piece. There are lots of people out there, myself included, praying for his friends and family.
