Brittany Murphy autopsy says no illegal drug use
Brittany Murphy's death resulted from a combination of pneumonia, anemia and "elevated" levels of prescription drugs in her system -- but an autopsy report rules out drug abuse as contributing to her death. The L.A. County coroner's final report on Murphy's Dec. 20 death finds "no history of alcohol or drug abuse." It also notes that she appeared to be "normally muscular and slim but not excessively thin," countering earlier speculation that the "Clueless" and "King of the Hill" actress was dangerously underweight when she died.
The report reaffirms the coroner's earlier findings that pneumonia was the primary cause of death, with anemia and the prescription and over-the-counter medications in her system listed as contributing factors. Her death was ruled an accident.
The coroner's report says the autopsy found elevated levels of hydrocodone and acetaminophen -- which are components of the painkiller Vicodin -- as well as chemicals president in over-the-counter cold medicines and some inhalers. "It should be noted that the pattern of use of these medications suggest treatment of symptoms of a cold or other respiratory infection," the report states.

I almost wonder if there isn't a typo somewhere in there. Even if Simon was taking them as well that's a lot of freaking pills.
