Are 'Real Housewives of NYC's' Alex McCord and hubby Simon van Kempen out?
The word on the street is that "The Real Housewives of New York City's" resident social climbers Alex McCord and her husband Simon van Kempen may have hit the last rung on the social ladder. An "inside source" tells the New York Daily News that the couple is in danger of being cut from the fourth season of the hit Bravo show.
"Viewers don't have a positive reaction to them, so they're easily replaceable at this point," The Daily News source says.
The insider goes on to say that the couple doesn't mix well with the other housewives and they'd be OK with seeing Alex and Simon go. The issue is further complicated by reports that Simon, who is often referred to as "the seventh housewife," wants to be paid the same rate as his female costars. If that's true, Simon is taking the nickname a little too seriously, huh?
Both van Kempen and Bravo addressed the gossip on Twitter.
This morning, van Kempen tweeted to the New York Daily News that he "is surprised that u would think that casting 4 a show that may or may not air until March 2011 has been made & write about it."
Bravo also responded by tweeting, "The full cast of 'The Real Housewives of NYC' IS back for season 3. Let's watch season 3 before we worry about season 4!"

This duo always seemed to be trying really hard to impress on the show, but it wouldn't be the same without their shenanigans so I'll vote for them staying on the island. I love seeing them cling hard to their status - is it mean to say their struggle was funny?

I Do like Bethenny and Ramona is ok but not enough to keep me watching.Not without Alex and Simon!
I have grown to like Alex and Simon. They are about the most honest on the show. LuAnn needs to learn how to be nice (forget about 'classy' which she isn't). Ramona is not well, and Bethanny has a chemical imbalance. If you remove Alex and Simon who else is there who can be kind, helpful and down-right human?
Whew...what a bunch of crazies! They may have money but who cares! They are the most insecure women I know (not personally, of course.) I wouldn't choose ANY of them for a friend! Two faced, lying, and backstabbing...almost like they can't stand for someone else to succeed...soooo jealous! YIKES! I like Bethany, though. She's harse, but at least she's NOT two faced! Move on Bethany, these women are NOT your friends. Find new friends! And best of luck with your fiancee'. I'm happy for you. I think Alex and Simon are the only normal people on the show. I would choose Alex for a friend. She's nice, a good mom and wife and most importantly, she's REAL! Alex and Simon, you have your priorties straight!
Forget the show if Alex and Simon aren't on it! They are the only ones' who don't scream and backstab. I know the show wants drama, but we need a little glimpse of sanity from the cast at times. Keep them! They're really refreshing!
Over the course of the first two seasons, I found Alex and Simon VanKempen to be obnoxious, social climbing users who unabashedly name-dropped at every turn, spent lavishly on vacations and designer goodies, all the while flashing their black Amex whenever possible-- even though it's been established that their income did not support their high-rolling lifestyle. I simply could not abide them *or* their uncontrollable children. As Season 3 got underway, I noticed a startling change right out of the gate. The VanKempens had definitely changed and somehow become humble, earthy and above all else, LIKEABLE. More importantly, they became the much-needed leavening factor throughout a season of non-stop screeching scenarios. Without Simon's delightfully self-deprecating humor and Alex' genuinely calming influence during various gatherings of the "ladies" (not to mention her embracing of Bethenny when she so desperately needed a friend) was the salvation of a season that would have otherwise been unwatchable in the extreme. I cannot imagine a Season 4 without the VanKempens. I certainly hope Bravo decides to bring them back and pay their price-- Simon included. In my opinion, they've worth every penny.
