"I'm totally shocked," Blodwell tells us. "I only just found out. All I know is that he lived and breathed to make his mother proud of him. Everything he did was done to please her, like a 'Look mommy, look what I did.' He was very, very attached to her. And when she died last week, I think he felt, 'what's the use of anything anymore.'"
Blodwell goes on to say: "He was a mad genius and his death such a loss for his friends and the entire fashion world. He was at the top of his game. His last collection was iconic. Anything designed by him will become a true collectors' item and the prices will skyrocket."

The publicity firm representing the designer confirmed his death Thursday morning (Feb. 11), saying: "It is a tragic loss. We are
not making a comment at this time out of respect for the McQueen
family.'

7, 2007. McQueen dedicated his spring 2008 collection to her.
McQueen was named England's designer of the year four times between 1996 and 2003.

yes, very sad but defiantly a mother thing.
he was heavily into a- class drugs. This is the for his depression, not the death of his mother. It's a great, great shame
Wow-insightfull comments by George.Caring and sweet. What a talent.
It's a very compassionate look on why this talented man took his own life. Kudos to you for writing it.
We will miss His genius and creative force. George thank you for your insightful comments about Him.
When sadness and loss overtakes the miracle of Life look what happens, killing yourself to stop the loneliness is not the answer. If only He had waited it out.The Magic of Life would have reach His heart again and he would have felt the Joy that resides there. There is more that loss and despair there is also hope and Love. I.m so sorry he did not wait for the next season.
Wow. The fashion industry lost a true genius. Rest in peace.
I read a submission to a local newspaper the other day that could be accurately described as a celebration of Congressman John Murtha's death.
I was reminded of that vile nature while reading trashing here, especially from one particular vile individual, regarding Alexander McQueen. Comments alleging drug use were particularly interesting to me, given the extreme amount of typos, I guess - or maybe the Vile One is just stupid (and hateful).
What a sad story and what a sad but poignant piece. So tragic-a waste of life.
Here's a tragic story. A wasted life.
Too bad.
