Wyclef Jean pulls dead bodies from the quake rubble in Haiti

Haitian-born hip hop star Wyclef Jean spent Thursday clearing bodies from the rubble of Port-au-Prince.

"We spent the day picking up dead bodies, all day that's what we did. There's so much bodies in the streets that the morgues are filled up, the cemeteries are filled up," he told Fox News.

Describing Port-au-Prince as "the apocalypse," he said Haiti needs $1 million dollars a day to survive. "In four or five days, this whole country is going to be in chaos."

He asks his fans to donate via text by sending the word 'YELE' to 501 501, where each text is worth $5. His wife came with him to help their country.

Matt Damon, who traveled with Jean to Haiti, added, "I've seen extreme poverty before, I've never seen it coupled with massive disaster."

Jean has been raising money for Haiti since 2005. Joining him now are Damon, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, George Clooney and "House" star Olivia Wilde, who has done charity work in Haiti prior to the quake and appeals for donations to to artists for peace and justice on her twitter page. Shakira, Chris Martin, Ben Stiller and Oprah Winfrey have also  been pleading for donations to help Haiti.

Another Haitian star Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon has not been able to reach her Haitian relatives since the quake and still watches TV relief efforts hoping to see her family.

"It's really hard to take. It's really hard to watch. I mean, seeing the one picture of the baby covered (under the rubble), because they couldn't get to it... Those are my people."

She adds: I know it is tough times for the United States. But give anything, Red Cross, Oxfam. Anything you can do would really be helpful."

This is a video of Matt Damon when he went with Jean to Haiti in 2008 following the hurricane and flooding in Haiti.

Matt and others have been working with Jean for years to help Haiti and they deserve kudos for that but this article seems to be deliberately misrepresenting Matt Damon by making it look like he is in Haiti now. He would be furious at that.

Please clarify this misimpression.
