'Twilight's' budding rock star Robert Pattinson calls Simon Cowell pop
While "Twilight" has made Robert Pattinson the object of affection for tweens throughout the cosmos, it seems he wants his musical career to go in a more edgy direction - and that means fellow Brit Simon Cowell may not cut it.According to UK's The Sun, Pattinson, who plays guitar and piano, has received offers from several record companies looking to snag "Twilight" gold.
The most attractive offer, though, comes from soon-to-be-former "American Idol" judge and the guy behind the new American "X-Factor," Simon Cowell.
Sources say RPatz isn't in a hurry to work with Cowell, even though reports say the film vampire can name any dollar amount for the deal.
"Robert is reluctant to be turned into a pop star," say the site's sources. "And takes his music very seriously. He is a bit wary of signing up with Cowell who is, of course, associated with 'X Factor' and pop."
Pattinson's moody music might not hit the Miley Cyrus sect well, but you never know. In "New Moon," he pitted his pale, wispy hair-covered chest against Taylor Lautner's and still had the girls screaming in the theatres.
Check out his single from the "Twilight" soundtrack and let us know what you think. Could even the industrious Cowell make this pop?
[Update: "Eclipse" was changed to "New Moon." Thanks, betyyel!]

IF THATS TRUE THEN I THINK HE,S TOTALLY RIGHT TO BE WARY IF I WERE HIM I WOULD BE TOO AS SAID ABOVE SIMON IS POP N ROBS SOUND DOES SEEM TO HAVE MORE OF AN EDGE KINDA MORE OF A JEFF BUCKLEY FEEL TO IT I THINK I COULD BE WRONG BUT I THINK E SHOULD GO FOR IT BUT WHEN HE,S GOOD N READY N WHEN HE FEELS RIGHT ABOUT IT NOT BECAUSE HE,S HAVIN BLANK CHEQUES CHUCKED IN HIS FACE HE,S TOO TALENTED FOR THAT HE WOULD ONLY BE SELLING HIMELF SHORT MAN!XX
Please get your facts right. Eclipse hasn't even come out yet, so guess you meant to say New Moon.
Pattinson has a unique voice and great musical talent for song writing. He will do well in both acting and music if he chooses to engage in both.
Rob has got AMAZING talent. And I'm glad he's wary of Simon. Frankly I'm just overwhelmingly ecstatic that he's even looking at producers. In 22 so his more adult sound is incredibly refreshing against the pop backdrop of hit music stations today.
I loved his voice and style of singing in before I knew it was him singing in the background of Twilight. He'll do great in the music industry.
I think Rob is trying to stay true to himself. From what I've read and what he's said, he wasn't happy with the version of his song in the Twilight film. Although I personally don't like songs where I can't understand the words when they are sang, that is what make Rob unique. I'd love to hear some of his piano playing.
Simon Cowell is also the brains behind Il Divo. Making opera more accessible is not a bad thing, nor is encouraging people to listen to music in languages other than their own. Simon is more than just Idol or X Factor. I think he has a solid grip on what is and isn't good.
If this report is accurate, he thinks Rob is good. However, Rob will continue to be Rob and make his own decisions for his career. If he feels Simon is a poor fit for what he wants to do musically, he won't sign with him.
So far, none of Rob's mates have bothered with labels, either. I wouldn't be surprised if Rob created his own production company to continue doing things his own way.
