Should Harry Reid resign over racist comments?
The GOP is calling for democratic Senator Harry Reid's head over some racist comments he made regarding President Obama during the 2008 presidential election. In private conversations, Reid remarked that the U.S. was ready to elect a Black president, especially one who was "light-skinned" and "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one." President Obama has said that the book is closed on this matter but the "Today" White House correspondent Chuck Todd calls it "pragmatism, political pragmatism." The Republicans are looking to oust Senator Reid so that they have a better shot at his seat in Nevada, while the Democrats want to his place as the Senate Majority Leader.

This sounds like quite the witch hunt to us. If every Congress member had to resign for every off-color comment they've made in private, we'd have no Congress left. Like there aren't any Republicans who've made racially-insensitive comments about the current president? Please. We aren't endorsing the comments but maybe the GOP shouldn't be so quick to throw stones.
What do you think? Should Senator Reid resign over the comments he made in 2008? Vote below.

What Reid said may have been un-PC, but it reflects reality. Was America ready for a more "ethnic" African American to become President? Probably not. In the same way we would not want someone with a "New Joisy" accent, or anything too ethnic. Commentary that reflects the reality of racism is not, in itself, racist.
He's a Democrat only Republicans have to resign don't you know that already?
Absolutely he should not resign. Trent Lott should not have resigned over his comments. People need to realize that sometimes in "confidence" people say things. He apologized and that should be the end of it. Check this out - Looks like another highly publicized NBC show tanked. That network can do nothing, absolutely nothing right. I am surprised that they don't fire Brian Williams from NBC Nighlty News since he goes against the network grain and wins his timeslot.
Imagine that Tim is selling his over-priced dvd's again that a shocker!
How is this entertainment news at all?
This guy is a trainwreck. GOP should want him to stay along with Pelosi. They have ruined President obama's first year in office.
Why is this story on Zap2it? This is NOT entertainment news. Is Zap2it now starting a political news section?
NO WAY he should resign. The Repub's don't really care about what he said. It's just posing! which is what they are best at. Why don't they call for their own Senator Ensign to resign, what he did was 1000x's worse! Oh, and most of them don't have a problem with ppl calling Obama a Nazi, so the Repub's should shut their mouths about what Reid said. They do 1000x's worse everyday.
BTW, I am not even a fan of Senator Reid, but it is ridiculous the stink the Repub's are making out of this non-issue. Most ppl could really care less about it, and they are just making themselves look stupid.
Reid's most recent comments fit within a pattern of racist remarks going back to at least 2005:

If he resigns, then I wouldn't have a chance to vote him out of office in November since I live in Nevada! The right way for him to leave is if we go to the polls isn't it?
