Scott Baio's Michelle Obama tweet: Racist, sexist or tasteless? Dish Rag readers weigh in!

Former "Happy Days" star Scott Bao's Twitter joke about Michelle Obama has Dish Rag readers disagreeing about whether his remark was racist, sexist, tasteless or just plain classless.

"WOW He wakes up to this every morning," the die-hard Republican tweeted this week, along with a photo of Michelle with her mouth open.

His responding tweets have included suggestions that he kill himself, accusations of being a racist idiot and a lot worse. Baio then tried to prove he's not racist by tweeting: "I'm NOT racist for posting a pic of M.O. My WIFE'S BEST FRD IS BLACK,HELLO."

Dish Rag readers had some other things to call him.

"Sounds more sexist than racist to me." -- Ellen

"I agree with Ellen. Sexist, if anything other than stupid and mean." -- joey

"I don't see it as racist. It is certainly classless. As a 'celebrity' it seems that SB would no that anyone can be caught in an unflattering pix. But then to use it to intrude in another's marriage. Just no class." -- Dave

"Rude, disrespectful, and just overall stupid ... but not racist." -- ER

"So Michelle Obama has an overbite? So she will never pose in Playboy? She's the First Lady, and as such should be accorded more respect. She's not there to be an arm decoration for the President of the United States. Her role is much greater, and she will be remembered historically for a helluva lot longer than Scott Baio ever will be. He may not be a racist, but he certainly is an obnoxious little twit." -- Aaron R

"To clarify I dont necessarily feel Baio's comment was racist, but incredibly ignorant and insensitive. Michelle Obama is actually a very elegant woman, but anybody can be depicted in an unflattering manner depending upon the timing of a photo. Shoot I'd wake up to that every morning! Wouldn't have to ask me twice." -- Dan

"No,not racist, but a fine example of stupidity by a washed up celebrity. Has he looked into a mirror & seen that botoxed forehead & receding hairline? Just another jerk." -- KAYLA97

"Come on Scott are you that immature that you didn't think that you were going to get this reaction?" -- princesspr

"Only racists use the 'I have a black friend' defense. In fact, he further distanced himself with the 'I'm good friends with someone who has a black friend' defense. Well played sir." -- SirRon

Why is everyone making this a big deal. I personally think its hilarious. I don't see how it's racist or sexist. It's just a joke. If it was about Bush or Palin or anyone else everyone would be fine with it. So stop being hypocrites. And I'm sick of everyone saying Obama made history. What because he's black?!?!?!?! So that's ok but if someone post a stupid pic on the internet of Michelle Obama it's called racist. People now a days. GET A LIFE!!!!

I agree. It is hilarious she looks like the salt vampire that was on one of the old star treck episods. I think the Obamination needs a Nobel Prize just for livin with it. No I am not a racist I am black.

Scott said that his wife has a black friend, He never said that he had one. Throw rocks then hide your hand. Typical cop-out!!

It's a comment by an actor. I've heard many more offensive things in my life, and I guess this really illustrates the endless hypocracy of my generation. We want tolerance, unless it's something we dissagree with right? I'm truly dissapointed, and I have plenty of friends who feel the same way. Scott you have a right to your opinion as long as you are not threatening anyone! Those that get hostile are as bad as those radical zealots they complain about.

The United States is the greatest country in the world and the Oval Office is the highest office in the world.Whether you are Republican or Democrat, Barack Obama is our elected president and Michele is one classy first lady.It is immoral and unethical to talk about another man's wife in this fashion but it is what I have come to expect from those seeking a moment of fame.I can't even be mad at how far we as a people and a nation have fallen, I must simply pray for a change in the heart of those who are so cruel and insensitive.

LOL. The loon-bat, race-baiting left treat the Obama's like they're Muhammad or something.
"A fatwa will be issued against anyone who dares to speak unkindly of them or post unflattering pictures of her Holiness Michelle. And, it goes without saying, that a person who engages in such acts is a racist."

Sorry. It's Michelle's hideous mug and gigantic a$$. You gotta problem with that, talk to her about it.

Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their days interesting. Well, for example, the other day I went downtown and into a shop. I was only there for about 5 minutes, and when I came out, there was a cop writing out a parking ticket. I said to him, 'Come on, man, how about giving a retired person a break'? He ignored me and continued writing the ticket. I called him a 'Nazi.' He glared at me and wrote another ticket for having worn tires. So I called him a 'doughnut eating Gestapo.' He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he wrote a third ticket. This went on for about 20 minutes. The more I abused him the more tickets he wrote. Personally, I didn't care. I came downtown on the bus, and the car that he was putting the tickets on had a bumper sticker that said, 'I ♥ Obama.' I try to have a little fun each day now that I'm retired. It's important to my health.

Whether the photo in question is of a President's wife, a movie star, a super-model, a sports star or some random citizen doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if the person is white, black, purple or green. It was a joke -- get over it. Death threats? Really?!? I thought Obama supporters were anti-war. Oh wait, this isn't war, this is the politics of hate. That's different.

If this was a shot at Laura Bush, people would be praising the photo. Look, no matter what side of the political spectrum people you may be on, a funny photo is a funny photo. I'm conservative and died laughing at some of George W. Bush's greatest pictures. Did I ever consider sending the photographer or whoever posted the photo a death threat? Hell no! People are way too damn sensitive and need to get over themselves, as well as stop treating Obama and Michelle like they are the second coming of Christ.

The press treats the obamas like sacred cows.
