Robert Redford to Paris Hilton: Stay outta Sundance!
Robert Redford welcomed reporters to the 2010 Sundance Film Festival Thursday, Jan. 21, at the Egyptian Theater on Main Street in Park City.
But he really, really hopes that Paris Hilton -- or any of her kind, if you get our drift -- won't come to the festival this year. Or any year.
Redford admitted that his indie fest was "sliding" over the past few years, in part due to an invasion of "ambush marketers who took over Main Street and the houses in the mountains, at three or four times [the normal price] to hand out their swag."
"You end up with Paris Hilton here who had nothing to do with us."
"There's nothing we do about that, but it kind of engulfed what we did," Redford acknowledged. "Now with the economy, these people can't come back or I hope they don't come."
Sorry, Bob. As long as there's even a little swag to be had, chances are Paris and/or her ilk will be there.

the folks that go to sundance that are not TRUE artists try to benefit from others hard work, go to bad mouth others (like their opinion even matters), or just to stay in the limelight & get their names "mentioned" in the media to perpetuate their "mystique". bunch of balogna! I prefer to wait for the results so I do not become jaded.
Good for him! The celebrity adoration was getting out of hand at Sundance-Redford let it go on way too long. Sundance was becoming a joke. Good that he's stopping it now.

Paris is actually staring in Teenage Papparzo, so she has every right to be there to support her own film.
Redford is a hypocrite in pretending that he is above commercialism!

Also, he should stop pretending that he was ever a great artist who can judge othgers.
He was just a pretty boy the ladies swooned over when he was young.
When was Redford's last commercially successful movie??

So STFU Redford and be glad people go up to Park City to ski.
Of course you would be there at the time and do not take cards and Rob will be there every year. It is clear that Paris Hilton does not understand subtlety, this is not the first time that Robert Redford says he does not want it at that festival and invites you to leave where you came from ...... Well I think that Rob was time to move to the subtleties and tell clearly denied access to the festival.

Beatrice D, Do not say it is hypocritical because it is not true. He created this festival for the purpose of "help" to actors, directors and producers in general are unknown in the world of Hollywood, come on, this festival is suitable for all those movies that are "little business" so to that which this festival there is nothing "pretentious and the limousines and red carpets are prohibited." And Paris Hilton has nothing to do in a place like this, much less if your film is not nominated. She is not there in the cinema and everyone knows it, but things are not promoting films, for this reason Robert is outraged and rightly in the world, because this spoiling the spirit of this festival.
