Report: Artie Lange's hospitalization due to suicide attempt
Page Six of the New York Post is reporting that Howard Stern's radio sidekick Artie Lange's recent hospitalization was due to an apparent suicide attempt -- by stabbing himself nine times. The Post's law enforcement source says that Lange sustained six "hesitation wounds" and three "deep plunges." We reported that Artie Lange was hospitalized this past Saturday (Jan. 2) but at the time no one knew why. There was speculation it was a substance-abuse issue, stemming from Lange's history with drugs and his 2008 stint in rehab and October 2009 DUI charge for driving while under the influence of prescription medication.
Stern returned to the airwaves this week after a holiday hiatus and had this to say regarding his longtime colleague and friend, "We all have our demons. Artie has given this show tremendous moments of great comedy. He's a tremendous contributor. He is a good man. Don't forget how great he is."
We hope Artie Lange can get the help that he needs.

Please get well soon
Mr. Lange
Artie started as an actor on Mad Tv as well as movies such as Dirty Work. He was hired by the Howard Stern Show is the replacement of Jackie the Jokeman. This is where he is most well known from. He is also a successful stand up comedian.
Get well soon Artie!
Kicked the heroin, just to have his own head take him out, or at least try.
Having struggled with depression and self-medication/substance abuse, I sympathize with Artie.
Get well soon and get help now.
Can I fill in while he recovers?

Get well soon, my friend. I don't know you personally, but let me extend my heartfelt well-wishes. I know a little about the kind of pain you were probably in, maybe a little too much about it, personally.
You deserve to live.

I have enjoyed hearing/seeing Artie. I liked his humor.
I would rather see him entertaining us now and the people upstairs later (by 40 years).
God Bless you Artie.
