Mel Gibson stopped acting because he was (yawn) bored
Mel Gibson steps back in front of the camera for the first time in many years for his new suspense thriller, "Edge of Darkness."
And his new movie is actually getting some good reviews. So why did he stop acting to begin with?
"I walked away because I was feeling stale and bored by acting. I got into the directing thing, producing, writing all that sort of stuff," he tells MTV.
Gibson has advice for other who want to jump start their engines.
"If you really want to rejuvenate your creative juices, walk away from your chosen spear of expertise for a while. Dig a ditch, do something with your hands, do something different and then come back, and magically your creative juices will be rejuvenated."
Good idea for these troubled financial times when millions of people are being downsized, made redundant, etc, and are being forced to make drastic employment changes.
Unfortunately, unlike the "Mad Max" Australian actor, the majority of them will not be able to take a side job as a director/writer and step back into their high paying acting careers at the snap of a well-manicured finger.
But it's still really good advice. Thanks, Mel.
