Kiefer Sutherland shows off his legs to David Letterman

"24's" Jack Bauer may be as tough as they come, but Kiefer Sutherland is willing to embrace his feminine side. Even if he's not necessarily happy about it.

The actor appeared on David Letterman's "Late Show" on Wednesday (Jan. 13) night wearing a blue and green housedress over a long-sleeved white t-shirt. The accompanying combat boots really polished off the look. Not to mention the constant "readjusting" he needed to do during the interview.

The first words out Kiefer's mouth were, "You changed your glasses," regarding Dave's spectacles.

Turns out Kiefer was so sure that New England was going to win this past week's football game against Baltimore that he told a guy "who used to be" his friend that he would wear a dress on Letterman if they lost. Which they did. Spectacularly so.

"If you're going to commit to the dress," Dave queried, "why not go all the way? What about stockings and heels? Maybe a brooch. Maybe a necklace."

Dave also offered him a $1,000 if he will take a subway ride wearing the dress, which Kiefer said would be easier than sitting on national TV in it.

"I think this might be the most humiliating moment in my life and I have a couple to choose from ... I would like to apologize to my mom, my dad, Sarah, any friend I have left out there and to the people that I work with."

There's lots more fun had. Check it out.

The eighth season of "24" starts Sunday, Jan. 17 ay 9 p.m. ET on FOX.

Good for him for keeping up his end of the bet!!

I thought that was funny. Good interview.

The more I see Kiefer, the more I like him. Who else would show up to Letterman in a dress? He’s quite a character. He seems like he’s as funny as his bio, “Living Dangerously” makes him seem. I’m happy I bought it. It’s such a funny book. Kiefer is awesome!
