John Travolta flies his own jet to Haiti. His cargo? Supplies and Scientologists.
John Travolta flew his own personal Boeing 707 from Florida to Haiti on Monday (Jan. 25). The jet carried four tons of military rations, medical supplies, and a team of doctors and yellow-shirted Scientology ministers.
Travolta told reporters at the Port-au-Prince airport, "We have the ability to actually help make a difference in the situation in Haiti, and I just can't see not using this plane to help."
According to the New York Times, the Scentologists are using touch therapy to help quake victims. And Agence France-Presse reported on one French Scientologist woman who explained how touch therapy works.
"We're trained as volunteer ministers; we use a process called 'assist' to follow the nervous system to reconnect the main points, to bring back communication," she said. "When you get a sudden shock to a part of your body the energy gets stuck, so we re-establish communication within the body by touching people through their clothes, and asking people to feel the touch."
Of her work at the Port-au-Prince hospital with a 22-year-old student whose right leg had to be amputated below the knee, she explained:
"One hour ago he had no sensation in his left leg, so I explained the method to him, I touched him and after a while he said 'now I feel everything'," said Sylvie. "Otherwise they might have had to amputate his other leg."
The AFP report also quoted an American doctor at the Port-au-Prince hospital who marveled, "I didn't know touching could heal gangrene."
Neither did we. Good to know.

Very good news, although I don't think it was necessary to bring the scientology ministers along.
He's a good guy. I wish though that all
these well meaning celebrities would help out this country more. THere are people starving, losing their homes and health insurance. Hard to look in the mirror though. come on guys-don't forget about good old USA.
In case it's unclear here, that comment from the American doctor was delivered sarcastically, according to the New York Times.
sizzle_star, I think since the doctor is a trained physician, while the Scientologists are nothing but non-licensed people who follow a science fiction based cult, he probably was being sarcastic
