'Dexter's' Michael C. Hall says cancer gives him an 'excuse for accessorizing'
"Dexter" star Michael C. Hall kept mention of his recently revealed battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma out of his Golden Globes acceptance speech for Best Actor on a TV Drama, but he did address it backstage in the Press Room."I think a matter of personal health is very much a personal matter." Hall shared. "I had to be completely frank with you, every intention of keeping it quiet, but because the award shows were imminent, I figured I'd make a statement."
Hall wore a black cap to the Awards and joked that, "It is nice to sort of have a justifiable excuse for accessorizing."
Assuring reporters that he's "doing fine," on stage Hall said that "it's really a hell of a thing to go to work at a place where everybody gives a damn, and that's definitely the case with 'Dexter.'"
The closest he came to mentioning his illness was when he made sure to single out his wife and castmate, Jennifer Carpenter, with an offering of "all of my love and gratitude."
