Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie split? Not so fast.

The world is abuzz Sunday (Jan. 24) with news that Brangelina may be splitting up. Here's why we we're not rushing to believe it.

First of all, the news originated from U.K. tabloid "News of the World." It may sound hard to believe, but U.K. tabloids are even worse than U.S. ones. They print ANYTHING. We haven't seen this story from a legitimate news source (unless they are citing the "News of the World" piece).

Secondly, the "News" gives the fact that we haven't seen Brangelina together in awhile as a reason they are splitting up. Uh, it couldn't possibly be that they are busy people, could it?

Yes, granted, it is a bit odd that the couple didn't attend either the Golden Globes or SAG Awards, where Brad's "Inglourious Basterds" was nominated (and won at the latter), but more in a "Hmmm ... interesting" way than "Oh, yeah, they are so over."

Finally, others are denouncing the rumors. Not that means anything. Look at Madonna and Guy. Nick and Jessica. Or, for that matter, Brad and Jen.

So could the couple have signed an agreement to split their $400 million fortune and share custody of their six children? Maybe. But, for now, we doubt it.
