Artie Lange hospitalized -- for what, we don't know

Howard Stern sidekick Artie Lange was admitted to a hospital Saturday night, and from the looks of things he won't be back in circulation anytime soon.

Lange's rep confirms that he was hospitalized in New Jersey, TMZ and others report, but offer no other details. "Artie has chosen to keep all information on this matter between him and his doctor," the statement reads. "There will be no further comment."

Lange, 42, was absent from Stern's Sirius radio show for much of December and canceled stand-up appearances in Atlantic City this weekend, as well as two future dates. He has a history of substance-abuse issues -- which is a frequent topic in his comedy and on Stern's show -- and did a stint in rehab in 2008.

He also pleaded guilty to DUI in October for a July incident in which he was driving after taking prescription meds.

Stern returns from his holiday break on Monday. We're going to go ahead and assume Lange's travails will be up for discussion.
