Jessica Simpson's makeup gal Mary Phillip arrested for being too drunk

Jessica Simpson -- who did not have an affair with Tiger Woods -- did try to bail her personal makeup artist Mary Phillips out of  jail early Friday morning, Dec. 18. 

Sorry, we just had to get that Tiger Woods mistress mention in there.

According to TMZ, Mary Phillips -- who worked with Jess on such classics as "The Dukes of Hazzard," "Major Movie Star" and "Employee of the Month" was arrested at 1:30 a.m. Friday  after cops got a disturbing the peace call from the Sunset Towers Hotel in WeHo.

Phillips was allegedly arrested for being, well, wasted. Although she looks pretty sober to us in this arrest mug shot at right.

Anyway, her longtime buddy Jessica Simpson rushed to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department to try to bail her BFF out. 

No luck. Cops said Mary was still -- allegedly -- too drunk to leave and Jessica was turned away.

Mary travels with Jessica and her mane man, Ken Paves, whenever the star tours, makes movies or does movie promotions which isn't very often these days. Just observin'.

Hope she sobers up before she has to do Jessica's makeup again.
