Brittany Murphy's husband doesn't want autopsy. So what happened?

brittany-murphy-simon-monjack.jpgSad, sad news Sunday (Dec. 20) about the sudden death of adorable, giggly and squeaky-voiced actress Brittany Murphy.

First reports were that she died this morning of cardiac arrest. But new information indicates that may not have been the cause.

And now TMZ is reporting that her husband Simon Monjack doesn't want an autopsy performed, although one will be conducted on Monday anyway.

What on earth happened? She was only 32!

The actress was reportedly found unconscious by her mother in the shower early Sunday morning. Paramedics were called but could not revive her and she was pronounced dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Brittany has been out of the A-list Hollywood circles for a few years.

Her film career took off after her breakthrough in "Clueless." She also appeared in "Girl, Interrupted," with Angelina Jolie and Winona Ryder, "8 Mile High," "Uptown Girls," and even dated her "Just Married" co-star Ashton Kutcher (pre-Demi Moore) for about two years. She also made Maxim's Hot 100 list list in 2006 and we're sure you remember her from "Sin City."

Her personal life was complicated.  She was engaged twice and dated Ashton Kutcher for a while. But everyone was surprised when she married an older man, a controversial British screenwriter Simon Monjack in 2007.

There is no report about what caused her death but there have long been rumors of an eating disorder and drug problems, although her mother told paramedics that she also has a history of diabetes.

But considering that two weeks ago she was allegedly fired for erratic behavior from a film shooting on location in Puerto Rico and that Monjack was hospitalized when he and Brittany landed in LA, many observers in Hollywood are suspicious about the cause of her death.

For the record, Brittany denied being fired. Her rep sent out this statement:

"The allegations currently circulating on the internet about Brittany Murphy and her husband Simon Monjack read like a fictional plot from one of the 50 plus movies Mrs. Murphy has successfully completed without incident. She was not nor has she ever been fired from any job big or small. Mr. Monjack did not engage in any alleged scuffles. Though due to creative differences Mrs. Murphy and the production mutually parted ways. As far as wanting to allegedly 'sabotage this project', to the contrary Mrs. Murphy wished this production nothing but the best. Puerto Rico gave Mrs. Murphy a brief insight into its wonderful culture and warm people. Mrs. Murphy would like to take this opportunity to thank the public for their continued support."

So what do you think caused the 32-year-old actress' death?

Not going to speculate at this point. I don't think that would be right.

No autopsy? Nothing suspicious about that. Poor girl. So much dirt is going to come out.

COuldnt agree more with JM. There's no need to speculate nor question WHY she died. Just take it as it is and may she R.I.P.

I send my condolences out to her family and friends. Whatever the reason for her passing, her life had value, and she will be missed by those who loved her.

Unfortunately I think it was drug use. 32 year olds just don't die of a heart attack unless they have heart problems which I don't believe she had. I really enjoyed her movies and was saddened when I heard the news. RIP Brittany.

Wow. Really? The Los Angeles Times is asking me to do their reporting? Worse, they're asking me to circumvent the whole 'investigation' process & just report my opinion on the death of someone I didn't know. Wow. Now that's not only lazy, desperate & irresponsible, but significant enough that, in my opinion....it's time for newspapers & tabloids to just call it a day.

I suspect eating disorder and drug abuse, not a good combination.

I hope that Brittany Murphy was happy while she was alive and that she is looking down from Heaven, proud of what she accomplished in her short time here on Earth. I hope her mother, who has been mentioned in many reports, has a strong support system around her in this most difficult time. As a mother of a deceased child, my prayers, well wishes, and condolences are with her. She now belongs to a club that none of us ever want to belong to. God bless.

Does anyone remember Karen Carpenter?
Brittney's death seems to be identical to Karen's.

I had the pleasure of meeting Brittany Murphy this year in Eugene, OR while she was filming "Something Wicked" with Patrick Stewart. I am certainly not a famous person (just an author) but in the hour I spent with her she treated me like "I" was the star. She was charming, polite, gracious, cheerful. supportive and talked about her mother's endless love for her. I was amazed and charmed she was such delightful company and so modest about herself. The world has truly lost a brilliant light. God Bless You Brittney
