Boy George goes to court to be on 'Celebrity Big Brother'
"Celebrity Big Brother" is returning to the British airwaves and singer Boy George really wants in -- so much so that he is taking it before a judge, as London Probation has refused to grant him permission to take part in the show, which begins Jan. 3.In 2007, Boy George (real name George O'Dowd) was arrested for false imprisonment after handcuffing a Norwegian male escort to a wall in O'dowd's London home. He has since served part of a 15-month sentence and has been "free on license" since May 2009.
The Guardian is reporting that O'Dowd has been offered a fee of £200,000 to appear on the show and that the show's producers even offered to let O'Dowd's probation officer visit the house while O'Dowd was inside but London Probation still denied the request to participate in "Celebrity Big Brother."
First of all -- why don't we have "Celebrity Big Brother" here in the U.S.? "The Surreal Life" does not count. There aren't enough silly competitions on that show.
Second -- you'd think that after serving time in jail, Boy George wouldn't be so excited to lock himself up with (reported participants) MC Hammer and Pamela Anderson.
Third -- £200,000? That explains it.
