Alexa Ray Joel out of hospital, back with dad Billy Joel after overdose

Alexa Ray, the 23 year-old daughter of Christie Brinkley and Billy Joel, is resting at her father's home after an overdose of Traumeel, a homeopathic medication.

According to Newsday, Alexa Ray took the Traumeel after a break-up with her boyfriend of many years. Mom Christie was with her during her hospital stay at St. Vincent's hospital in Greenwich Village, while dad Billy kept in contact by phone throughout the ordeal.

Once released, Alexa went home with her father, who lives in Sag Harbor, New York. Billy Joel also told Newsday that Alexa "is going to be fine."

According to medical dictionaries, Traumeel is an anti-inflammatory medication that contains "small amounts of belladonna, arnica montana radix, Aconitum napellus, chamomilla, Symphytum officinale, Calendula officinalis, Hamamelis virginina, millefolium, hepar sulphuris calcareum, and mercurius solubilis."

We don't know what all those ingredients are, but it goes to show you that even natural-sounding medications need to be monitored. We're glad Alexa recognized her trouble breathing and that 911 was called.
