VIDEO: 'Precious' newcomer Gabby Sidibe's first red carpet with Oprah Winfrey!
Gabby Sidibe, the 24-year-old actress who stars as a sexually and physically abused obese teenage single mom in "Precious," had never acted in a film before.
And at last night's "Precious" premiere in the 2009 AFI Fest, she was sharing a red carpet with Oprah and costar Mariah Carey and wearing a David Meister designer maroon satin gown.
Daunting, to be sure.
We talked to Gabby, who has the most infectious giggle and the warmest smile, about making the inspiring and hopeful film, a possible Oscar nod and what was harder: shooting the film or walking the red carpet.

Meister, who has designed for actresses size 2-20, admits that he's looking forward to the possibility of dressing the delightful Gabby for upcoming carpets.
By the way, Oprah didn't get as dressed up. She walked by wearing jeans.

I was fortunate enough to attend the premiere last night and the stars looked great on the red carpet. There were even some surprises like Eva Longoria, Will Smith and Paula Abdul, all of whom looked gorgeous. The film was heavy and the scenes dealing with abuse were graphic. Mo'nique's acting was superb and oscar worthy. After watching it, I've been looking to see how it was received by the critics.
