Jon Gosselin says he lost his 'moral compass.' Gee, ya think?

Jon Gosselin thinks he's just misunderstood.

During a public dialogue (??!!) with celeb Rabbi Shmuley Boteach on Sunday night in New York,  Jon said, "I'm not a fame seeker. Everyday I look in the mirror and I wonder [why I'm famous]. I don't sing. I don't dance. I'm not a Nobel Peace Prize winner. I just had eight kids and I had a show on TLC."

Jon, Jon, Jon. Are you dumber than we thought? Who but a fame seeker says this in a public forum with a celebrity rabbi?

He then admitted to some bad behavior in the last few months. "Half the stuff I've done, if I look at my moral compass, I shouldn't have done," he said.

Apparently, if he'd checked his moral compass, he would not have gone to France with girlfriend Hailey Glassman.

And he revealed the reasons he's "slowing things down" with Hailey.

 "We decided not to take a break, just slow things down, until I get through my divorce and I know everything is settled and OK. I don't want another failure in my relationships. I don't want to make the same mistakes I made with Kate." 

Yeah, and it has nothing to do with the fact that if public opinion of Jon gets any lower, he won't even be cast on "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here."
