Adam Lambert: AMA man kiss was unrehearsed, 'in the moment'
Adam Lambert says much of his sexually aggressive performance -- crotch grabbing, bird flipping, man-on-man lip lock and simulated oral sex -- on the American Music Awards Sunday night (Nov. 22) just happened "in the moment."
The openly gay singer said it's discriminatory and a double standard for anyone to object to his performance since women performers have been doing this kind of thing for decades.
He's kinda right. Evidence: Madonna. And so many others.
He explained to CNN that "Adrenaline is a crazy, crazy, crazy feeling. Some of the things I love most about performing is when you're up there and all of the sudden you just have these feelings, this rush that comes over you."
Including the urge to trip and roll on the stage?
We'd agree that acrobat move was not planned. But the man-on-man kiss?

And what will Adam Lambert be remembered for a year from now (or even six months from now)? His musical talent (or lack thereof), or his "look at me!" antics?
A talented performer doesn't need to use this "shock and awe" garbage in order to be entertaining. Either sell us on your musical talent, or go peddle your fish elsewhere with the rest of the has-beens and never-weres.
My prediction: a year from now, Adam Lambert is going to be nothing more than just one more AI alumnus who never went anywhere (because really, which other AI contestant does anyone still constantly hear about besides Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood? TWO success stories out of how many seasons makes AI a complete waste of time, IMHO, but that's a subject for another time).
Heh, people who make comments about how he should've relied on his musical talent instead of stunts are missing the point entirely. Of course he could've relied on his vocals alone. He /didn't want to/. Given all the fuss that's been kicked up before this over his homosexuality/bisexuality (I'm not sure which) before this, and given his personality, I'd have been more surprised if he /hadn't/ pulled something like this. It's his challenge, man. He's essentially informing everyone "This is what I am; I am what I am; either deal or get out of my face". Or, in the words of his song: "Can you handle what I'm 'bout to do."
And that's awesome.

Gee you think he is gay???? Frankie Goes to Hollywood did a similar performance in their video, better, and didn't need to treat their dancers like hookers. Adam fell on stage!! LOL!!!!!!!!
Performers, like it or not, are accountable to their audience. This is not a matter 'what Adam is'. No matter if you are a male, female, gay or straight - simulated oral sex and same sex kissing is not suitable for prime time viewing. Your outlook changes when you have children of your own. By performing this way many parents will roadblock their teenagers from attending his concert. His marketability took a hit which he will feel in his pocket. These were some real dumb in-the-moment mistakes which he will regret.

I think this whole gay acceptance thing is ridiculous. If you want to suck another mans **** or have it shoved up you ***, that is fine but don't go on national television and force everybody else to watch it. For all of you that say then just turn the channel, I did and after that all I have heard about is this little fagot defending this hideous, vulgar act. There is such a double standard in the world today. It is time for the silent majority who is sick of this unnatural **** being forced down our throats, and if we speak our minds just a little and say we don't want to see it anymore, we are considered hate mongers. If it were a male and a female doing what He did it would still be considered to much. I am speaking now to the hard working citizens of this country so all you who took offense to the above statement shouldn't read the rest the majority in this country who is not for our children being forced to learn how gay people have sex in our schools and made to feel not normal if they are straight, when in fact it is the MAJORITY THAT IS STRAIGHT, and don't want it forced on our kids so its time to stop the crap. GAY sex ed, redistribution of wealth, and even the most premeditated murder in the world today "Abortion", or even health car it is not a right of our citizens to have health care it is a privilege. These are the things our government should stay out of. It is time to take our country back to what made it once GREAT.
