Did Vogue overly-Photoshop Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard and Kate Hudson?
The cast of the hotly anticipated musical "Nine" -- Nicole Kidman, Penélope Cruz, Marion Cotillard and Kate Hudson -- looks a little bizarre to these eyes on the cover of the November issue of Vogue.
What the hey? These are some of the most gorgeous actresses on the planet. So did Vogue go overboard with the Photoshop?
It almost looks like four different shoots were cobbled together. While we don't have particulars on the photo shoot, it isn't completely uncommon for magazines to use composite photographs on its covers. Annie Leibovitz, who photographed the stars, has been known to use the tactic on some of her group photos.
The last time we saw actresses this disconnected in a photo was a "Desperate Housewives" promo, during the dueling divas era.
Yet worse, does this ill-conceived cover bode ill for the film? Variety reports it has been moved from a pre-Thanksgiving date of Nov. 2 to a Dec. 18 limited release and will now go wide on Christmas Day. To be fair, that still gives the movie an award-show pitch, but would it be a bad sign if the studio couldn't get the female cast together for a magazine cover?
"Nine," inspired by Federico Fellini's film "8 1/2," is about a director (Daniel Day-Lewis) who has a midlife crisis as he turns 40 and struggles to balance his latest film along with all the women in his life.
Marion plays his wife, Nicole is the film star and muse, Penélope is his mistress and Judi Dench is his longtime costume designer. Fergie plays a prostitute and Kate plays a journalist.
Sounds crowded.
Still, awkward photos aside, the trailer looks amazing! Click here to see it.

It's amazing but Annie Liebovitz and Vogue managed to make 4 beautiful women look bland.
And why weren't Sophia Loren and Judi Dench on the cover with these women? Oh yes, they're old.
The actresses actually were together for the photo shoot. there are pap pictures of the shoot on a beach in Malibu. So why the heck did Vogue feel the need to photoshop it?bizarre.
overly photo-shopped?? FER SURE YO!!
Looks like they were all on the beach, for a little while anyway.

That is truly a bland cover. Not something you would expect from Vogue at all. It does look photoshopped though. I wonder if so many egos could actually get along so well together to even ,make a movie. Several of the ladies involved have HUGE ego issues, especially Kidman. Makes you kind of wonder. Yet, the picture could have been better. It is extremely bland and void in color.
This was cobbled together. I saw piics of Nicole in that dress, alone, on a beach for the photo shoot. She was holding a parasol between takes to shade her skin from the sun. Penelope looks divine. I wish Marion hadn't colored her hair light, looks better darker on her.
Oh, this photo goes beyond bad compositing. It's horrible Photoshop work. Not only is it blurry, the actresses appear to have "hair helmets." Whomever does the Photoshop work at Vogue needs to either be fired, or learn basic tools in the program, such as the use of the "background eraser." I'm amazed Anne Wynter let this on the cover. It really appears to be thrown together within 30 min.
