David Letterman admits to sex with staffers; extortion suspect arrested
What's more shocking? That David Letterman was being blackmailed
over his sexual affairs and of doing "terrible things" with staffers?
Or that Letterman had sex at all?
The talk show host revealed on his Thursday night show that he was the victim of an extortion attempt over the affairs.
He said he was sent a letter by a person who wanted $2 million not to go public (by writing a screenplay and a book) about Letterman's sexual relationships with women who work on his show. Letterman described these relationships as being "terrible things."
Letterman said he has testified before a grand jury and admitted to the relationships.
"My response to that is, yes, I have. Would it be embarrassing if it were made public? Perhaps it would," he explained on the show. "I feel like I need to protect these people. I need to certainly protect my family."
In March, Letterman, 62, married girlfriend Regina Lasko, whom he has dated for two decades. They have a son, age 6.

Working with police to snag the suspect, Mr. Letterman wrote a fake check for $2 million. The suspect in the case was arrested Thursday. CBS released a statement that the suspect was an employee of its news program "48 Hours" and was arrested on charges of attempted grand larceny and suspended from the company.
The Times' Show Tracker blog reports that the alleged extortionist is "48 Hours" employee Robert Halderman, a 51-year-old Emmy Award-winning producer.

According to Radaronline.com, the suspect used to live with one of the women who had sex with Letterman a long time ago, before his son, Harry, was born and before he married.
The woman in question still works on the show but is not involved with Letterman.
It's been reported that the district attorney's office will hold a news conference today.

Detailed in their new book "Why Women Have Sex: Understanding Sexual Motivations from Adventure to Revenge (and Everything in Between)," Buss and Cindy M. Meston, clinical psychology professor, collected personal accounts from more than 1,000 women of diverse educational, ethnic and religious backgrounds on their reasons for having sex.

David Letterman is taking advantage of his position. I am really offended by his way of saying "I had sex with my employees'. He would not even admitted those were affairs. He used his employees as sex objects. I feel sorry for the women involved. David Letterman was single, rich and famous. The women involved might thnk they had a chance to devleop long term relationships with him but instead they were just being used for sex. This whole thing is very disgusting. This is very typical behavior of men who have money and power.
